BOXED WARNING - Cardiovascular and Gastrointestinal Risks: NSAIDs increase risk of serious cardiovascular events including heart attack and stroke, which may be fatal. This risk can occur early and increase with duration of use. Meloxicam is contraindicated after coronary artery bypass surgery. NSAIDs also increase risk of serious gastrointestinal complications including bleeding, ulceration, and perforation, which can be fatal. Elderly patients and those with prior peptic ulcer disease face greater risk. Other Major Warnings: - Hepatotoxicity: Monitor liver function; discontinue if abnormal tests persist - Hypertension: Monitor blood pressure during treatment - Heart failure and edema: Avoid in severe heart failure - Renal toxicity: Monitor kidney function in at-risk patients - Anaphylactic reactions: Seek emergency care if occurs - Serious skin reactions: Discontinue at first sign of rash - Fetal toxicity: Avoid use at approximately 30 weeks gestation and later
